Abstract

PVC linoleums emit various harmful volatile substances into the indoor air, among which phenol, benzene, xylene, toluene, trimethylbenzene and cyclohexanone are most likely to exceed the MPC according to published data. In this work, on the basis of experimental results obtained at NIISF RAAСS, the emission of harmful substances emitted from a number of linoleums used in practice is shown. Summarized data covering linoleums of various types and different manufacturers are given. Emission is presented in the form of a value, convenient for practical use, of the minimum safe ventilation air exchange of premises with outside air per unit of linoleum surface area. With such air exchange for the entire group of pollutants, provided they are absent in the outside air, the content of each emitted substance in the room will not exceed the maximum permissible concentration.
