Russian Architecture in the Mirror of Rubricators and Classifiers of Academic Knowledge

Abstract

Library classifiers and the Scientific and Technical Information Rubricator (GRNTI) are considered in the work as the mirrors reflecting architectural knowledge. The paper examines which spheres of public practice architecture belongs to, what is the degree of development, differentiation of classifiers' positions, how architectural knowledge is presented against the background of related fields - construction and art, how systematic and detailed the section of architecture theory looks compared to art theory. It was found that the positioning of architecture in the classifiers, the number of headings, codes assigned to architectural knowledge, its structuring by hierarchy levels of architecture in general and in relation to its theory indicate a significantly worse state or less informative representation of architecture in comparison to construction and art history and the need to make efforts to improve the situation.
