Educational and Scientific Activity of the Department of Temple Architecture of the MARCHI: the First Results and Prospects of Development

Abstract

The Department of Temple Architecture of the Moscow Architectural Institute is currently the only one in the higher education system of the Russian Federation specializing in the architecture of religious objects. The department's developments in research and design areas for 2016‒2023 allow us to summarize the results and form promising areas of activity. In the article we have considered the teaching structure of the department, based on a multidisciplinary approach, taking into account theological, historical, architectural and design courses, elaborated under the supervision of academician G.V. Esaulov. We showed the goals and objectives of the department's activities, structured the research directions of the final qualifying master's papers. We have identified a promising direction in the research activities of the department, corresponding to the theological aspects.
