The method proposed in the article for calculating a reinforced concrete bendable element according to a normal cross-section, based on the direct use of a material deformation diagram of the type σ(ε), which does not require dividing the cross-section into conditional strips, makes it possible to estimate the stress-strain state of the element at all stages of deformation and is applicable for calculating the 1st and 2nd groups of limit states. At the same time, the proposed technique avoids the disadvantages inherent in the calculation of a nonlinear deformation model, given in the regulatory documents of the Russian Federation currently in force.
