Abstract

The article concerns the first meetings of the Russian envoys of Ivan the Terrible with British architecture. In contrast
to the rather well-researched Russian-Italian connections in the field of architecture, little attention has been paid to Russian-
English artistic contacts of this period until now. Nevertheless, it was at this time that the foundation was laid for bilateral
ties in a number of areas, including architecture. The complete lack of development of this topic in both domestic and foreign
specialized literature determines the relevance of our study. At the same time, brief mentions in English sources, Article lists,
archival sources and research works still allow us to trace which cities they managed to visit and which architectural monuments
they encountered with their own eyes.
