The Image of Fortress in a Russian Сountry Residences of the Mid–18th Century

Abstract

The paper is dedicated to the lost structures of the mid–18th century were located in outstanding country residences near Saint-Petersburg and Moscow. The all those monuments belonged to the late Baroque and Rococo and served as park pavilion, while their designs reproduced the appearance of fortress. The article attempts to consider these buildings as the integral phenomenon in the history of the Russian architecture.
