On the History of City Improvement and Engineering Networks in Moscow. Part I. The History of the Improvement of Ancient Moscow. XIV-XVII Centuries

Abstract

On the example of Moscow, an analysis of the history of the improvement and engineering systems of Russian cities is given.

An appeal to the history of urban improvement and engineering systems in Moscow is relevant today due to the fact that over the past decade such work has been actively carried out not only in the capital but also in other historical cities within the framework of several national projects, including the national project "Housing and urban environment".

For specialists in the improvement and development of engineering infrastructure, working in historical cities, it is important to understand the continuity of urban development and awareness of the history of their profession, its role in this development.

Using the example of Moscow, the article shows that urban improvement, including the issues of engineering protection and engineering support, has a long history. In Moscow, this activity dates back to the XIV-XV centuries, and its historical stages are closely related to the main stages of the city's development (XIV-XVII and XVIII-XIX centuries, including the beginning of the XX century).
