The Problems and Scientific Content of Modern Landscaping of Historical Quarters of Moscow

Abstract

The article substantiates the importance of historical quarters as an independent type and object of urban heritage and examines the features of the "subject of protection" and the boundaries of the justification of landscaping projects.
Modern tasks and possibilities of regeneration of historical quarters by means of complex landscaping, including architectural
planning, engineering, geoecological, restoration, landscape, and other methods of preservation of historical heritage are considered on a multidisciplinary basis. It is shown that the improvement of historical districts requires the development of a
new field of science and practice, systematic urban planning, synthesizing industry trends, approaches, and methods to ensure
the preservation of heritage for the conditions of historical territories. Examples, tasks, and individual methodological aspects
of substantiating design decisions of Moscow's historical quarters in the Arbat district are considered using criteria and methods
for substantiating planning decisions of "morphotypes" of historical buildings and taking into account the real danger of the impact of landscaping miscalculations and leaks of engineering networks on the geoecological condition of the territory, on the processes of destruction of architectural monuments and the urban environment.
