The Main band of settlement as an element of macrozoning of the territory of Russia: Problems of justification and institutionalization

Abstract

he analysis of the materials of the General Settlement schemes on the territory of the USSR and the Russian Federation and other relevant options for macrozoning the territory of the country showed the undevelopment of the concept of the Main band of settlement in the domestic theory of urban planning. The position of the boundaries of the Main Strip differs significantly in its various variants. The article highlights the zone of uncertainty located between the North and South macrozones and shows the relevance of conceptualization and institutionalization of the Main band of Settlement as one of the most important elements of macrozoning in the country.
