Abstract

This article provides an overview of progressive collapse in structures, including its causes, mechanisms, and consequences. The article also discusses various design strategies and mitigation measures that can be employed to prevent or minimize the risk of progressive collapse according to different specifications and standards. Also, the article will provide some examples of this kind of failure and the causes which led to full or partial collapse of the structures. Finally, will be carried out comparative analysis of various analysis methods based on a 3D numerical model for a 11-story steel structure, their evaluation by materials consumption.
