unkerstrasse: Experience of Virtual Reconstruction of the Historical Königsberg Street in the Time of I. Kant. 18th – Early 19th Centuries Part 2
Main Article Content
Abstract
The reconstruction of the ancient urban environment of the late 18th century, namely the now defunct buildings on Königsberg's Junkerstraße, makes it possible to understand the uniqueness of the living environment and the specific architecture of buildings associated with the everyday life and social circle of the philosopher Immanuel Kant. In the second part of the article, special attention is paid to the formation of the architectural image of the court pharmacy of the famous pharmacist, professor at the University of Königsberg, Karl Gottfried Hagen, Immanuel Kant’s closest friend. The 3D model of the pharmacy complex was made on the basis of written and visual sources – engravings and drawings of the 19th century, photographs of the XIXth – early XXth centuries. For reconstruction in a virtual format, the Hagen pharmacy building turned out to be a difficult object due to the large number of architectural elements, each of which had to be drawn manually. The pharmacy building was adjacent to the German House hotel, located on Theaterstrasse (Kerwiedergasse) – one of the frequent places visited by Russian travelers in East Prussia. The 3D image recreates the appearance of this building, popular in the late XVIIIth and early XIXth centuries.
