Public Space Identification

Abstract

The article addresses the problem of identifying and classifying public spaces based on the proposed system of architectural quality criteria and urban environment impact factors. Special attention is given to the role of public buildings in the surrounding development on spatial organization, considering historical and cultural traditions, site-specific circumstances, and prospects for architectural evolution. Conditions for social interaction necessary for the execution of public activities are defined. The typology is supplemented with a theoretically substantiated and practically implemented category of public space integrated into public buildings.
