Abstract

In the late 1920s – first half of the 1930s, a new trend emerged in the architecture of the USSR – constructivism, which was part of the avant-garde proletarian art. One of its experimental sites was the housing construction of "increased comfort" in order to promote the new way of life of Soviet people and the construction of a new type of houses – houses of specialists.
The purpose of the article is to identify the architectural and planning features of the design and construction of houses of specialists in pre-war Stalingrad – the largest industrial center of the Lower Volga region. All the buildings were distinguished by the bright individuality of the architectural solution and became urban planning dominants and the basis for the formation of a new socialist image of the city.
