Abstract
The problems of preserving the cultural heritage object "Plate rolling shop of the Nizhne-Vyksa plant ("Vyksa
Metallurgical Plant" JSC), designed by the outstanding Russian scientist and engineer V.G. Shukhov, its movement to the central part of the city of Vyksa and further restoration. The article presents the history of the creation and operation of the plate rolling shop, materials of previous surveys, the results of a comprehensive scientific study conducted in 2018, including a full-scale survey during which numerous defects and damage to metal structures were detected, the most dangerous of which are crevice corrosion in the junctions elements, deep ulcerative corrosion of the elements of the arches and half-timbered pillars in the support zone, as well as penetrating corrosion of the coating elements. The results of the verification calculations are presented, which showed that the strength and stability of the workshop ("Shukhovsky Span"), even taking into account the removal of heavily damaged nodes and parts of the structural elements of the workshop building from the design diagram, is sufficient for the loads acting at the time of the survey, and the number of damaged structures of the plate rolling shop, requiring restoration or replacement, will be insignificant and will not affect the cultural and historical value of the building. For the perception of additional effort from the snow load (if the roofing was currently saved), it would have been necessary to replace most of the elements of the workshop framework or to install additional supports, which is unacceptable during the restoration of the cultural heritage object. The article provides recommendations for disassembling, restoring elements moved to the central part of the city of Vyksa by laser surfacing and their subsequent assembly, which will preserve this unique monument of architecture and engineering thought.
