Main Article Content
Abstract
Among the buildings of the Trinity Makariev Monastery in Kalyazin dismantled in 1940 there were two stone buildings from the first third of the 16th century: the cathedral and the refectory. This article examines the refectory with a small church of Boris and Gleb. The materials of the study of this monument were transferred to the Shchusev Museum of Architecture in 1940, and based on them, the refectory was reconstructed in 1986. Based on these data, the dating of the monument is adjusted in this article. The Kalyazinskaya refectory is considered in a broad historical and architectural context, indicating the origins of the typology that developed at the turn of the 15–16th centuries. The author of the article also suggests a different origin of the masters of this building than previously thought.
