Historical Development of the City of Sochi in the First Half of the 20th Century. Typology Experience (to the Subject of Protecting Historical Settlements)

Abstract
The article presents the results of typology of objects of historical development of the resort city of Sochi, formed during the first half of the twentieth century. The territorial scope of the study is determined by the boundaries of the Sochi-Matsestinsky resort area, established in the mid-1930s. The main types of historical buildings and land planning principles that had the most significant impact on the formation of the unique spatial appearance of the historical settlement of Sochi are considered. Their chronological, planning and volumetric-spatial features were used as criteria for the typology of buildings. The special importance of the natural factor in creating the image of the resort city of Sochi, which acquired integrity in the Soviet era, is emphasized.
