Abstract

This article proposes a synthetic approach to the design of public buildings and adjacent spaces based on the concept of the common good, which reflects the priority of social demand in the conflict of collective and private interests. Conscious goal-setting based on this concept allows for the creation of an architectural form for public space that corresponds to the circumstances of place and time. The collection of public buildings and spaces, conceived as an independent typology, acquires a dynamic character through adaptation to changing patterns of social behavior and the urban planning situation.
