Evolution of the Palladian Architectural Tradition in Germany from the Late 17th to the Mid-19th Century

Abstract

The Palladian architectural movement developed in Germany from the end of the 17th century and, in fact, remained an influential trend until the second half of the 19th century. Studying the features of the chronological development of the style, the specifics of its author's interpretations, the author strives to highlight the characteristic features of the German national branch of Palladianism. On the example of the works of architects I.A.Nering, G.V. von Knobelsdorff, F.V. Erdmannsdorf, K.L. Du Rey, K. von Fischer and the masters of the transition to eclecticism of the period F. Gilly, K. F. Schinkel, I. Ya. F. Weinbrenner traces the history of the interpretation of the Palladian heritage, the search for new architectural solutions, periods of development of German
architecture.
