Abstract

The article deals with the problems of the spatial organization of scientific centers that have arisen in Russia. The working conditions for scientists are studied using the example
of the Pushchino Scientific Center for Biological Research, the Novosibirsk Scientific Center, the Scientific and Educational Center on the island Russkyi in Vladivostok. Materials that
reflect the development of scientific objects in the USA, Chile, Germany, Great Britain, France, and Switzerland are used. Approaches to solving design problems are analyzed and
proposals are given that are relevant in today's circumstances. The texts of the article are accompanied by diagrams, drawings, and photographs.

The analysis of factors that can have a significant impact on the functional composition and planning of urban formations, which have become centers of concentration of scientists, is
carried out. The need to expand the network of centers for collective use (including mega-science class installations) is noted, providing opportunities to advance the front of scientific
research while simultaneously saving land resources and money. The features of the mutual placement of subdivisions conducting distance research are characterized. It is proposed to consider the individual requirements of the participants in the production process to its material environment, to create centers for nonstandard orders on the territory of scientific zones.

It is emphasized that the development of information and communication technologies does not reduce the need for personal business contacts – it is due to the creation of zones of professional communication and temporary housing, interactive museums, and exhibition complexes. The role of the cultural environment and picturesque natural landscapes in the processes of creative activity is investigated. The conclusions and proposals of the authors are illustrated by an experimental layout diagram of Zarechie – a scientific center located on a
conventional site in the Moscow region, to the west of Moscow.
